The show was created by Lauren Faust, who also helped create Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls, and Kids Next Door. Faust described the show as a "family show," stating that the program wasn't made specifically for children. Male members who watch the show are classified as "Bronies," who are often called gay or fag for watching. Although, most men who watch the show are straight (including me.)
