That awkward moment when

A phrase that prefaces a Facebook status update that uses the word awkward in the same way most people use the word irony (read: incorrectly). Essentially, "awkward moments" are never awkward.

Person A: That awkward moment when you realize you will die alone
Person B: That's not awkward, that's sad and soul crushing.

As you can see, Person B is well read and has a firm grasp on the definition of the word awkward and that awkward moment when, Person A on the other hand is a sad plebeian who hasn't come to such realizations.

A conversational device used by people who want to appease everyone, and do not want to take a solid stance on any topic as to not polarize someone they wish to be liked by.

Person 1: I think that prank where the guys feed seagulls laxatives and have them shit all over everyone at the beach is hilarious!

Person 2: I think it was cruel to the seagulls, and there were children on the beach. It was a terrible and awful prank. What do you think Person 3?

Person 3: Well, I think it was a brilliant prank. I mean, who thinks of something like that? It was absolute mayhem, shit was descending from the heavens and people were losing their minds.. THAT BEING SAID, I think that we should condemn this behavior for it was cruel to the innocent wildlife and unsuspecting children. Absolutely reprehensible behavior.

Person 1: Well, you kind of just agreed with both of us..

Person 2: Yeah, have a point of view..

No

A polite negative reponse to an offer. Sounds like you're agreeing but actually means the opposite. This phrase is very hard to argue with without being rude. Commonly used when a salesperson tries to get you to buy something extra, or when someone who likes you but you don't want to involved with offers to do you a favor.

Poindexter: Hi Suzie! Would you like me to carry your books for you? They look heavy!
