An old device for entertaining children in the shape of a horse. The child sits on the body of the wooden horse and rocks quickly back and forth. If there are two children in the same room, they hold a competition of who can stay on through the most violent rocking. Bonus points if you get thrown over the front.
The boy played on the rocking horse in his nursery, somehow defying its design and not flinging himself over the front
Two children took turns rocketing themselves over the head of their wooden rocking horse with the sharp teeth

Get the Fupa On The Rocks mug.Fringe Rock is a style of music that incorporates many different classic genres of Rock but does not fit neatly into any established micro-genre. It is Rock music that sits on the edge of commercial rock, hence on the "fringe" of what is currently mainstream.
The term can trace its roots back to the 1970s and the British TV program "The Old Grey Whistle Test" but it is not known if it was coined by "Whispering" Bob Harris or if it originated elsewhere. The Fringe Rock movement saw a resurgence in the UK in the 1990s, with bands such as Ether and Janus Stark, and in the USA with bands such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre & CAKE. Through the 2000s the Fringe Rock baton was carried by bands such as The Warlocks, Singapore Sling and The Dolly Rocker Movement.
The 2020s have seen renewed interest in the Fringe Rock scene with independent bands and artists rejecting the mainstream sound. Modern examples of Fringe Rock include Yard Act, DEADLETTER, Dazzle Rebel, Deep Tan, The Dirty English and Forty Feet Tall.

Get the Rock bottom mug.A semi-derogatory term originating in the the UK in the 1970s to describe a band that purports to playing rock music but is not the ‘real-deal’ and is “manufactured” to appear tougher and more gritty than they are.
Usually used when a band reaches a wide audience seemingly through reputation rather than by ability AKA “The Emporer’s new clothes”
These bands are often liked by 15-25 year old males who work in Estate Agents or Building Societies during the week but at weekends put on the obligatory band t shirts which MUST be coloured BLACK (and which can be worn with an optional bandana).
