When you need to think logically, but your core philosophy is swaying your judgement.
Philosophy is something we all have. How we run our lives. Something happens and you say something about it? That's because your core beliefs swayed you. Why did you speak up? Almost like instinct; it can work subconsciously.
This is why you question things. Mix that with logic. Sherlock Holmes used logic, but his philosophy interfered. If a body had fallen, he would think "Well, there is gravity so it came from somewhere up.." He knows gravity, its a core belief. Philosophy... but with logic mixed!

But god forbid we outsource our police to another city to save all that money, we need to be paying all these police officers' managers $200k+ per year salaries with pensions!
