Atavus

Aliens on the TV show Earth Final Conflict. A throw back to before the Taelons and Jaridians diveraged as seperate species. They are humanoid looking but have laser claws that protrude out of their fingers which they stab into people's chests to suck the life force out of them. Atavus' are very evil and highly sexual creatures.

When Taelons are seperated from the commonality they devolve into Atavus.

Atari Safari

"Atari Safari" is an addendum to the Palma Sutra, the ancient vedic discourse on self-pleasure. An Atari Safari is when you climb inside an arcade-size video game and replace the joystick with your own and hope that the next player gets the high score.

Roger thought he was just playing Burgertime, but he was really on an Atari Safari.

Originally maker of coin-op video arcades followed by home arcade games and finally 8-bit computers such as the 400 and 800. After the advent of the IBM PC clones it came out with the ST series but they failed to catch on with businesses. Kept on going strong for years in Europe (Germany in particular) but finally went out of business.

I got an Atari 800 in 1982.

Having characteristics regressing to a more primitive type; resembling a distant ancestor. A evolutionary throwback.

The atavistic dew claw in many dog breeds is a simple example of a genetic throwback to an earler stage of dog evolution.

An atavistic example in humans is when babies are born with true tails.

Used as an alternative to old school. Refers to old fashioned/retro methods, ways and style. Often a comparison with the trends and fashion of today.

In Cee Lo Green's song 'Fuck You':

Yeah, I'm sorry, I can't afford a Ferrari,
But that don't mean I can't get you there.
I guess he's an X-box and I'm more Atari,
But the way you play your game ain't fair.

X-box refers to 'today's'/modern style, while more Atari refers to old fashioned/'yesterday's' style...
