reserve requirements

(FINANCE) the amount of bank reserves that a bank must keep in storage to meet unexpected liabilities.

Banks are not allowed to lend out 100% of the money they receive as deposits; if they did, then depositors would be unable to take money out of the bank. On the other hand, the bank has to lend most of the money out, since it needs the income earned from interest on loans. Throughout the history of the Usonian banking system, the US states or the federal government have had rules about interest rates, reserves, and financial accounting used by banks.

Reserve requirements are necessary to mitigate the risk of bank runs; this was thought to have disappeared thanks to deposit insurance, but Washington Mutual experienced a bank run in 2008 that forced it into receivership.

In the USA, reserves have been set by law for centuries; as a percentage of liabilities, this percentage has declined over the centuries to its current level of 3-10% (as of 1992). In the Eurozone, this rate is 2%; in Japan, it is about 1.5%; and in Commonwealth countries like the UK & Canada, it is voluntary--there are no reserve requirements.

reservoir dog

a guy who works with a bunch of other guys to rob diamonds. the term came from when Tarantino called 'Au revoir les enfants' "that Reservoir movie" and combined it with the movie 'Straw Dogs' to make "Reservoir Dogs."

A bunch of Reservoir Dogs and I are gonna hit up a jewelery store tomorrow.

bowl-reserve

Bowl-reserve is similar to tropical punch. The origins of bowl-reserve come from a place, punchbowl reserve. So as not to sound suss one can say 'bowl-reserve' to someone or something that is of annoyance. The true meaning of bowl-reserve is simply 'i want to punch you' or 'fuck off'

Bowl-reserve is in the same word family as tropical punch, judy (and punch), tropical, and punch.

The central bank of the United States of America that was founded by Congress in 1913. It is responsible for supervising all bank and credit organizations in the U.S. (both private and public), enforcing credit law, forming U.S. monetary policy, providing financial services to the U.S. government and foreign banking systems, and most importantly, avoiding inflation and depression by controlling U.S. interest rates.

Alan Greenspan has been the chairman of the Federal Reserve for a long time, changing interest rates on many occasions.
