pogey bait

The Marines in China before WW II were issued candy (Baby Ruths, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) as part of their their ration supplements. At the time, sugar and other assorted sweets were rare commodities in China and much in demand by the Chinese, so the troops found the candy useful for barter in town.

The Chinese word for prostitute, roughly translated, is "pogey". Thus, Marines being Marines, candy became "Pogey Bait".

Platoon leaders should control the use of pogey-bait and non-issue food.

Race Baiter

People on internet forums (but not limited to forums) who use racial issues to start an argument. By playing the race card and / or creating volatile race issues that really don't exist so they can increase post count or potentially draw someone into an argument in hopes of getting them banned.

Scotty: I can't believe that cracker coach Rod Marinelli cut Charles Rogers from the Lions squad! Watch him replace C-Rog with a white wide receiver.

queer baiting

When an author/director/etc. gives hints, and clever twists to paint a character as possibly being queer, to satisfy queer audiences, but never outright says they are so they can keep their heterosexual audience.

June- I love watching Supernatural! Dean and Castiel are ABSOLUTELY gay!
Micheal- But they never said they were, and cast and director haven't said they were either.
June- Yeah, but they totally act gay!
Micheal- Sounds like they're queer baiting you, so you'll continue to watch.
