1. A concept from hustler culture that typically means to network with someone who can help you become more
successful. You may be linking and building also by exchanging info and building out your network, adding someone on the
social media site Linkedin, meeting with people to organize for
social justice or community projects, or lastly, doing something with someone else in a social setting to gain more clout. NOTE: Sometimes for two people to "link" is used interchangeably with "link and build" but "link" is the more casual / informal version.
2. The term is also used ironically to talk about meeting friends, by meme pages to make fun of hustler culture, and by co-workers who are using the term to refer to doing something not related to work but with work friends. It is used in this
way by in a satirical video by Cherdleys called "When the clout attacks," where they mention at some point that someone is going to "Link and Build."
