mulatto

North American term for a person who has some mixture between white and black ancestry. It is usually unknown in these people and not so obvious, until a DNA test is taken.

Interesting factoid: Rappers like Nas, Ludacris and Royce da 5'9 have some white in them and are (technically) mulattos. DNA tests provided from them have proven that one of their great great grandfathers was a white slaveowner.
