Feminism is the movement of women that attempts to break down the barriers of gender inequality. It is thought to have began in the late 19th century with the womens campaign for the vote. It began to pick up steam in the again in the sixties with the arival of the pill but began to fizzle out in the 90s.
It is now largely regarded (particularly by ignorant skinheaded men) as obselete. "Ya vote, ya work, Wha' ya monin' 'bout ya freaky lesbo" is the general thought among this crowd.
True women can vote but that is hardly the surface of gender inequality. Women CAN work but are also expected to look after the kids and do the housework. Equal? I don't think so. Women are also statistically paid less for doing the same jobs as men and hold relatively few high powered jobs compared to men.
Sure women have made progress but there are still major inequalties in society that need to be solved.
"Why do I care?" I hear those of you who are male say. Well, you have mothers, sisters, wives etc. Wouldnt you be furious if they were disadvantaged because they were black or gay or disabled? Of course you would! So why is it ok for this to happen to your family because they are women?
You do not have to hate men or burn bras or be a lesbian to be a feminist. You just have to believe in equality.
Feminists (including men) kick ass!

A once political movement which helped women get equal rights in social, economic and political stances , now used as an excuse for man- hating, and over all acting like an imbecile. Recently it has been called "intersectional feminism" meaning it covers the rights of all races, genders, religions and sexual orientation. Sounds great, but it does nothing but promote "white-guilt", shaming of cisgender and/or heterosexual people, worshipping obesity and entertaining the idea of a "patriarchy".
Many if not all feminists use the "wage gap" and the "pink tax" as reasons as to why feminism is needed. If it is not those two it is "white male privilege", "rape culture", or "cultural appropriation", and all the things I've named have one definitive thing in common, they don't exist.
Feminism has paired up with movements such as BLM /aka, "we'll commit violence to prove POC aren't violent!"/, Body positivity, which honestly wouldn't be a bad movement if it didn't promote obesity, And Islam, which is a religion which, at its core, shames and punishes homosexuals, and women with death amongst other horrible things.
When in an argument with a feminist many if not all will scream "racism", "sexism", "homophobia", "Islamophobia" and "Trump supporter" to shut you up, or bring up events which have not happened in decades to attempt to prove their point, ie. black slavery.
Feminism has also sparked movements such as the "meninists" or "MGTOW" which only prove how ridiculous feminists are.

Feminism is the belief system that women and men are equal.
While the stereotype of cuttroat feminists is still burned into the minds of the close-minded (see the other definitions for feminism)it is only a derogatory stereotype used primarily by the ignorant. Feminism is believeing that women deserve the same rights, respect, and chances as men.

Quotes demonstrating my definition:
Real definition of Feminism:
"Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings"
-Cheris Kramerae, author of A Feminist Dictionary, 1996.
Stereotype:
"Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians"
-Rev. Pat Robertson,
1992 Republican Convention

Feminism isn't about making women more superior to men but about having equal rights. There will be some people being misandry and calling themselves Feminist. Pay attention to the ones who are nice to everyone no matter what gender they are.

Feminism by book definition is the advocacy and support of women's rights/equality to men.
Feminism dates back to around 1848 where women were actually oppressed by men.
Feminism is deemed as controversial as many are against and many are for this.

Feminism: The belief of equal rights for men and woman
Radical Feminism: the belief of world domination and supiority of women
Radical Feminism: the belief of world domination and supiority of women
"I consider myself a feminist, you know, belief in equal rights for men and women."
"That's so cute!"
"Are you saying that feminism is just 'cute'?! You know, it's people like you that make women feel oppressed. Women should have rights, regardless of what's downstairs."
"Wtf did I do?" *Slowly backs away*
