San Francisco has been recently noted to be entering what is seen by many as a “doom loop,” due to the high vacancy rates in offices and shops downtown post-COVID, increasing homelessness, open drug use, empty streets and rampant crime.

Brutal Doom

A gory mod for the Classic Doom games by id Software. The main focus on this mod is just to enhance, well, brutality, gore, and fun. For example, body parts will be blown off according to which spot an enemy is shot, and what type of weapon is used as well. New enemy death sprites/animations, and new player death sprites as well. Demons have smarter attack methods, as well as different attack methods, for example picking up barrels and dead foes and hurling them at the player. Similar modifications have been made to other games by the same author, like Brutal Doom 64.

A PC game made by id Software, also responsible for games such as Quake and Wolfenstein. You kill monsters with cool weapons. Made in 1992, uses 2D sprites for enemies, objects, your character's hand with gun. First person shooter.
