Expendable characters. Usually say one line or less before being killed in a plot-convenient manner.
Most often seen in classic 60's Trek.

Red-Shift

An overdose of viagra. Enough that your penis bulges at almost twice its normal size and almost bursts. It is called 'red-shift', as all the blood shifts into that dick. A play on the physicist term, which is the changing frequency of light.

Ah shit, I feel light-headed. 4 pills was too many. I think I'm gettin' a red-shift.

A way to refer to someone getting screwed over by getting an unpleasant task or sheer bad luck.

Coined from the security guards from the original "STAR TREK" because they always got killed on assingment.

"Roger just got totally redshirted. He's gotta clean up the bathroom that the toilet backed up in"

Redshirt

A play on college sports' "Redshirt" rule: they can't play, but they're still a part of the team.
Redshirt is another name that refers to underage girls (typically between the ages 16-17).
They're "a part of the team" = you can check them out, but "they cannot play" = you can't have sex with them because that's illegal.

"DAMN! Check out that Redshirt over there!"

The name of a group that is helding a rally in Thailand. They call themselves Red Shirts People and they wear red shirts.

Redshirts people support Thailand's ex prime minister, Thaksin Shinwatra.

This search keyword, "redshirts", is very popular now in twitter. Opposite groups some time call them "red buffaloes" as "buffaloes" in Thai means "stupid". This is an insult but ... it's a fact.
