something that did happen, but 11 million people were killed, everyone hears about the 7 million Jews who died, but no one even cares about the 5 million peasants, christians, Roman Catholics, and others who were killed

1. The Holocaust applied to the organized government persecution and genocide of various ethnic, religious and political groups during World War II by Nazi Germany and collaborators. There has been many other Holocausts in the world but this is esspecially remembered because it is the first time a religous group hads been identified as a ethnic or social class.
In 1940's German leader Adolf Hitler along with his Nazi party decided that all those not meeting Aryan standards or did not have a life worth living should be exterminated . Almost 11 million dead. 6 million of these people were Jewish. Other racial/ethnic groups targeted include Roma(Gypsies), German male homosexuals, German mentally/phisically impaired,Soviet POWs, Jehovah's Witnesses,Germans openly against nazi regime, people pf Polish decent, Slavic people, and people of African decent.
This term comes from Roman text meaning a sacrafical fire. This makes it seem almost as if this was being used for the good of a population. In hebrew and now being used in modern text as the Shoah which means complete destruction and anhiliation.

The mass extermination of millions of Jews, homos, gypsies, and anyone who opposed Hitler. He made his ass- nazis shoot them right out and put them in mass grave, or put them in concentration camps. These were made especialy to kill and sicken the inhabitants. Some of the soldiers were good however, and were only there becuase they served int he army. It was becuase of good ppl like that that the few that survived did.
The holocaust was a terrible catastrophe that can't happen again. In order for it to not happen, EVERYONE needs to know abt it.

A program referring to the extermination of all "impure" people, mainly concerning of Jewish origin by Nazi Germany in the years 1939-1945
Even though the holocaust also involved nearly 5 million people of non-Jewish ancestry, the mass extermination of the Jews decimated the entire Jewish population of the world by two thirds, and nearly eliminated almost all Jews residing in Europe.
Let's not forget, if the amount of Jews was proportional to the quantity of Americans for example, then the casualties would likely be circa 200 million.
