A sort of Plug and Play... a cord attached from the computer to a device (camera, Mp3, iPod, PocketPC, etc) gives it immediate connection to the computer. Usually powers the device.

My digital camera is attached to my computer by a USB. My devices are now instantly connected to my computer in a snap.

My old computer had 1 usb port at the back. My new computer has 6 and my mouse, printer, iPod, keyboard, external hard drive, digital camera and refrigerator all connect to my computer via USB
