Sycophant

A word to describe a person who lavishes praise, blind loyalty and approval upon an individual, cult or organization, to satisfy their own agenda, make financial, social or political gain or to conceal their own shortcomings.
Often enacted at the expense of others, and no matter the evidence to the contrary.
