I'm not racist, but...

A phrase used to proceed a bigoted tirade. Similar to Dennis Miller's stock comedic phrase "Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here..." which he invariably follows by a ranting monologue.

The problem is, when Dennis Miller does it, he understands that he is prone to ranting and appreciates the irony, which is why it's funny. Your average racist is never quite honest enough with himself to figure this out.

The literal translation from racist is, "I am, in fact, likely to be the most bigoted person you've met in years... the following observations will definitely prove this."

I'm not racist, but... you do know the Jews use the blood of Christian babies to make Matzoh.

I'm not racist, but... I think the Klan does a lot of good work.

I'm not racist, but... Hitler had a lot of good ideas.

1) An disclaimer that allows the speaker to say whatever they like regardless of how racist it actually is.

2) What a racist may say before they lazily chuck around inherently racist sweeping generalisations but don't want to appear to be racist.

John: I'm not being racist, but all white people are drug-addicts.

Rival fans and bent people will claim they don't exist. In reality there is an abundance of them but are hidden from the public eye due to the racist fans.

What someone says right before they say something so extremely and irrevocably racist you want smash their face into the pavement and then stomp on the back of their head. For some strange reason, they seem to think it justifies being an asshole. Grr

Person A: Not to be racist, but...
Persons B+C thinks: Oh shit, here we go again
Person A: but...your ugly ghetto nigger face is pissing me off. And your asian friend should go back to where he came from, before I kick his head in.

*Persons B+C advance on A*
Person A: Oh what, you gonna try bash me now? The only reason why you nigga is so strong is b'coz TV's are getting bigger!"
