Similar to pssht or ugh, 'hrmp' is a sound used in conversation to display feelings of discontent, frustration, or disapproval.

It is commonly used as a response when a mere grunt may convey more information and emotion than a sentence.

Hrmp may be used in verbal conversation or in instant messaging. In either situation, 'hrmp' is not followed with a supporting sentence.
