Computer major for
1) Hardcore computer people who want power Power POWER!
2) Masochistic individual who enjoys punishing himself
3) One who wants to become a programmer
Don't confuse a CS msjor for one who majors in Information Systems, or "Lazy Man's CS". Information Systems is more similar to majoring in Word.

Computer science is the study of the storage, transformation and transfer of information. The field encompasses both the theoretical study of algorithms (including their design, efficiency and application) and the practical problems involved in implementing them in terms of computer software and hardware.
Computer science has its roots primarily in the fields of electrical engineering (i.e., electronics), mathematics and linguistics. It is still a relatively young field, mainly because it was only about a half century ago that electronics technology became sufficiently advanced to allow the construction of even primitive electronic computing devices.

In computer science, scientists apply concepts and techniques of computation, algorithms and computer design to a specific problem.

The bane of my existence. Why did I ever decide to minor in computer science?? I wish I could invent a time machine and go back in time and intercept myself before I declared it as my minor. I would then proceed to kick my own ass.

self explanatory. you can major/minor in computer science in college and it's useful if you want to get a job later in life.

A demanding major but not as hard as many would like you to think. If you think CS is hard try CE where you do the core CS classes along with EE classes and extra math and physics.

A college major which is thought to be a great field to enter for a lifelong job. This is true, but there are certain misconceptions to this fact. The only way to get an extraordinary job is to create an app and sell that app to a company on the west coast of the U.S. because they are the only ones interested in doing that and hopefully you get to work for one of those fantastic companies with marvelous benefits. On the other hand, if you fail to be an app developer in selling an app to them, you will end up working a job like in the movie Office Space.
Joey: So what are you going to do with your recently earned computer science degree?
Chandler: Well, I have no app ideas, so I'm just going to go work for Initech.
Joey: That's too bad you are not an incredible app developer with thousands of ideas.
Chandler: Yea, I should have just minored in computer science.

(noun) A very fun class offered to high school students in which you learn how to create computer programs. You learn how a computer works, and how to tell a computer to make your life easier. You also learn how programmers create video games. Much of the year is spent playing Warcraft III or Starcraft, instead of coding, as most of your classmates have a vast knowledge of Java, C++ and HTML already and just take the class as a break or as college credit. The AP test in computer science consists of meaningless, non-applicable multiple choice questions that account for 50% of your score, while the other 50% actually tests your knowledge of java, but writing prgrams that no one would use in the real world.
"So how's your AP Computer Science class?"
"It's awesome! We didnt do anything all period, we just played Warcraft III"
