fraudu-lent is the time of year that is the inverse of the standard lent. instead of giving up a bad habit or addiction, one should take up a vice for the duration of the lenten season. the new activity should be something one never engages in during the rest of the year.

vices should also not be repeated in consecutive years.

eric: I actually took on raping and pillaging for fraudu-lent.

The time of the year 40 days before Easter that remembers both the 40 days of Jesus's temptation in the desert by Satan and the 40 years the Jews wandered the desert with Moses. Is also the time of year when your parents force you to church more and they make you give stuff up.

I gave up chocolate for Lent.

Loophole Lent

I invented this term, to describe the loopholes I used to get around with for lent. It is usually used for people who are either non religious, or believe in God/etc. but do not follow certain religious customs, but have family that follow the custom. Such loopholes include simply giving up something you really do not care about, or substituting things you are giving up.

"I gave up chewing gum for Lent, but not bubblegum. And last year, I gave up Coke, but not Pepsi. I love Loophole Lent!"

Today it is popular among the pseudoreligious, who abstain from nominal vices such as swearing and eating chocolate. For these vacuous individuals, Lent is a compromise to the taxing, 365-day commitment New Year’s resolutions demand.
