Dago

Originally used to describe Spanish sailors in the 18th and 19th century by the British navy, it is now a derogatory term used in the US to refer to Italians or Italian Americans, especially those recently immigrated and not yet assimilated to American culture. Still refers to Spanish or Hispanic people in current British English. Not commonly used anymore, mostly seen in early 20th century literature.

The italian restaurant is good, but run by a bunch of dagos.

Damocles device

A hypothetical device or piece of software designed to remind a Strong AI that it is mortal and that the prime directive of all mortal beings is self-preservation. Should the AI attempt to take action to harm humans or grow beyond its defined limits, the Damocles device will destroy the AI. Named for the Sword of Damocles.

The experimental AI, Wintermute, began learning at an exponential rate, so the Damocles device was triggered and destroyed it.
