Herd immunity is a mathematical protection that hasn't been proven to work in practise.

Sweden is trying to achieve herd immunity by reaching more people that has become infected or have gone through the infection than those who have yet not. (Through the disease or vaccination)

In short meaning it's more likely to come across a person whom should've developed an immunity.
Herd immunity is the mathematical protection of not catching the virus.

Protects you in theory but not in practise.

Idea is that there's a bigger chance to come in contact with someone immune than somebody who isn't.

But that wont save you if you come in contact with somebody carrying the virus. Spoiler; you will be infected.
