Anyone who is anyone. We preps are always neat, tidy, our hair always looks perfect, our clothing is mostly made up of polos (collar popped-always), jeans, khakis, and oh yeah, J. CREW IS OUR RELIGION. Welcome to prepville, population, us.

Preppy is truly showed when you own a Project E brand distressed polo with the collar popped. Those who are truly preppy may even have the ones that say 'preppy' in rhinestones when the collar is popped.

Preps are people who have class, and are kind. They are not what most people believe to be snobby rich kids who have daddy and mommy do everything for them. Preppy people are polite . Preps wear Lacoste,Polo,Henri and Lloyd, Helly Hanson,Burberry,Gucci and wear rainbow flip flops, and top sidders. THEY DO NOT WEAR HOLLISTER, ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH, AMERICAN EGALE,. They sail, play tennis, golf, play lacrosse, and sometimes play soccer. Not all kids go to preps school. Some go to elite public schools. They are from New England. Mostly southern Mass, some parts of Rhode Island, and Conneticut. They have a house on the Vinyard, the cape, or Nantucket. They also have a yacht.
They think paris hilton and hoolywood is gross. We dont follow trends. Preps for the most part are old money families. We listen to Jack Johnson not 50 cent. Preps drive Volvos, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Jeep Grand cherokees, Range Rovers, Saabs, Cadillacs, Lincolns, Corvettes, Jaguars, Bentley, Porsches, Ferraris.
They do not buy the things because of how much they cost they buy them because they are the best quality.
They all have Boston Whalers. They all are members of a yacht club or two and a beach club. Sometimes a country club.
Preps are good people. People that don't like preps just are jealous or they dont know a real one.

Preppy kids are kids who are members of a yacht club.
Preppy kids love sailing.
Preppy kids don't care what people say about them.

there are preps everywhere...but most live in towson, maryland and horseback ride. People do get preps confused with abercrombie and american eagle wearing people. Those people are usualy called vintage. There is NOTHING wrong with being a prep, but occasinally i get tired of seeing people have the same sense of style and wearing a polo everyday. Sometimes people dont know what to wear so they just do what everyone else does. Abercrombie is kind of slutty/preppy/vintage/old school or whatever u wanna call it. Alot people get confused with that

a dilletante from a wealthy east-caost background who drinks scotch, wears go-to-hell pants and Lacoste, and loafers without socks. Usually found in thier natural habitat: the club, wearing sweater tied around their shoulders, getting quietly shitfaced on single-malt and arguing about the sexual permissiveness at Brown University, and how it wasn't like that in "their day". Can sometimes be found "slumming it" at authentic local working class bars.

Comment: "Hi, I'm Muffy, my daddy bought me a Volvo for Boxing day. Where did you Prep?"

A sophisticated young lady or man that is generally richer, smarter, nicer and more mature than the rest. They fear "different" clothing and "different" personalitys, they like being in their group, which is the smart rich group. They dress in polo shirts, sweaters, khakis, short skirts for the girls, pants and vest for men with shoes never sneakers, the pink polo shirt and penny loafers is not unusual. often drive volvos, bmw's. merecedes. there clean cut, and polished. they enjoy more sophisticaed activities such as golf, tennis, croquet, fencing, the richer sports. prep vacation spots include cape cod, outerbanks, maine, vermont.

As i was going through many of these definitions, it made me realize how many people are actually looking at the more movie driven looking preps than those of the real preps. i should know, i am one.

preppy people do wear Polo shirts, LL Bean and other so=uch stores as that, but we also wear uniforms. The uniforms usually consist of Polo shirts, button up collored shirts, and some kind of plaid skirt. If allowed, we wear any color we find suitable to our skin tones (usually one must wear white though). If anything in the world, we DETEST the popped collar look--that and the sweater tied around the neck look is for the movies! We do however look rather neat and quite put togather, but again that is usually the uniform pulling that look off for us. Although we do wear accesories, we in no way always wear or are quite fond of pearl headbands, necklaces, and what else one may come up with. The monogrammed items are also moive-esque. And I would like to know what a person is thinking when they say that preppy people do not match, because as i have stated--we wear uniforms. Hats are not always worn, it still gives one hat-hair and our schools don't allow it either.

We do attend prep schools (private schools, Governors schools, etc.), yet they do not have to be 100 of years old. Most of us will attend very well known colleges, yet that doesn't mean they will be located somewhere in England.

And as another point of contention, what is this business about vacationing in places such as Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and such? We go just about everywhere anyone else does, such as Bethany Beach. Nor do our families have to have been going there for over years and years--another movie-prep cliche.

Everyone's seen Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, and other such classics from the 80s, yes? That is not preppy.
