Get the Moolakascha mug.Mollahacılı is a village in Göyçay city, a city located in Azerbaijan. The history of this village dates back to the 20th century. It was founded by the population that migrated from Şamaxı, another city located in Azerbaijan, as a result of an earthquake that took place in Şamaxı in 1902. The village is mainly known for its chenar (plane) trees and a spring called "Mehman Bulagh" located in it. Although there are many hypotheses regarding the name of the village, the most widely believed idea is that the generations here united and named the village.
Mollahacılı was a large village full of empty lands for a long time. Later, as other people settled here and established their own villages, the area of the village gradually decreased and was divided into two parts. Currently, the main part of the village is known as "Aşağı (Lower) Mollahacılı", though it also has another part called "Yuxarı (Upper) Mollahacılı" which is less populated.
