Somebody that pretends to love people they don't really love and support things they don't really hold sacred, from LGBT rights, feminism, mental illness, and other causes to spiritual causes, all to promote an extraverted, sociable image that is not really them. Someone that tells a broad audience of people that don't know them well that they are one way, when really they are another when nobody is around.
The pretentious girl was introverted when nobody was around, but tried to make herself look extroverted and fun when there was an audience of her suckers she was trying to play around, as they were a path to power for her.

A well-dressed middle aged man who drives a fancy car and always takes the stairs instead of the elevator because elevators are for lazy people and he's a working man. Probably a Trump supporter. Probably not actually as great as he thinks he his (or as rich).
Ugh, Steve is such a pretentious businessman. He always rolls his eyes at me when I choose to take the elevator instead of the stairs.

Someone who's not really friends with a group of people, but goes around like they've known the people their entire lives. Someone who tries to convince an unconvinced world that they're sharks and not minnows.
The pretentious girl walked around town with a group of people like they owned it, and she tried to convince other people they were her best friends.

a word that has lost all its meaning to the Pretentious people that use it. its a gay a** word. A word that was popularized by Hollywood( The Pretentious of Pretentious people), has become a running force of that place.

Someone who expects everyone to be friendly. Nobody owes it to anybody to be friendly or welcoming all the time, or to like/pretend to like every stranger they ever met. In life, if you make a few true friends, you have what some people pretend to have, and what many never get. Why would you need more than that? Why would you already like/love/trust somebody you never met, a stranger. Anybody who says they like/love/trust a stranger is pretending to like/love/trust a stranger.
Only a pretentious person would say they liked/loved/trusted someone they never met before/didn't know well. Someone who wanted everyone to assume they owed it to other people to like/love/trust everyone, including them.
