A tag usually used in fanfiction to describe a fic in which a character is hurt (usually emotionally) and receives no comfort from any other outside sources. It can range from internal conflict (like having a mental breakdown alone in the bathroom) to experiencing something traumatic alone (like having a near death experience with no one there to see it), though the tag is not limited to these scenarios.
Serves as a contrast to Hurt/Comfort, and is often regarded as a subcategory to Angst.

To suffer inexplicable pain of some sort. This pain isn't necessarily physical, however. The usage of the word "world" doesn't always implicate a great length of time that the pain will exist, but rather the magnitude of the pain.
I spent my first year of college drinking and failing classes. Now Daddy won't pay my tuition, and I have to go to community college. I'm in a world of hurt!
Dad: Son, did you go outside without my permission again?
Son: (lying) No, Mom said--
Dad: *removes belt* You're about to be in a world of hurt!
Son: *starts crying even though he hasn't been hit yet*
Dad: Why are you crying? I haven't even hit you yet! But don't worry, i'm about to give you something to cry about.
...Not that that actually happened or anything...

A phrase that Daniel Seavey said during the “compliment battle” where Seavey and his band mates read the cringest comments and tried not to laugh. While Zach Herron was reading a comment that read “I hate you” Seavey said “ouch that hurt” in a high pitched voice

-phrase-(HURTS DOUGH-nit) Commonly used as a joke before a fight. Usually asked in context of a question to confuse the victim, so as to make them think you're offering them a doughnut. When said properly, you're supposed to make out the words "Hurts, don't it?" in a southern-like accent.
Season 7 Episode 6 of "Family Guy" (approx. 12:28)
Peter Griffin to Omar "Hey Omar! Want a hurts doughnut?"
Omar to Peter Griffin "Um...OK?"
Peter Griffin punches Omar in the face.
Peter Griffin to Omar "Hurts, don't it?"
Peter Griffin laughs.
