OJ Effect

When large groups of people are exposed to the same exact body of facts but “intuitively” feel strongly one way or the other – polarized - based on deeper life-long accruing concerns and prejudices that have significant unconscious bearing on their decision making system (possibly selectively listening/reasoning), but generally unbeknownst to them until it is brought to light by some polarizing event that entirely reasonable people can’t otherwise see eye-to-eye on.

Jesus – I was utterly shocked OJ was deemed innocent by the jury, but every black person I know and love – to a person – felt exactly the opposite of my skinny white ass. Both sides bold-faced convicted to their vision of the obvious truth. Something larger must be going on. 'One million people' (x2) can’t be wrong. The “OJ Effect”.

As an American I went to the Japanese War Memorial Museum where me, an Aussie, and a Brit (who never met before) were utterly dumbfounded by the official Japanese vision of the events of WWII, most notably who started the war between Japan and the USA. Only then did I realize my own John Wayne exposure to the war was equally disturbing.

A San Francisco-Bay Area term referring to members of the female gender living in an inflated state of mind leading them to believe they are way hotter than are in reality. More simply put, a girl who is a 4 and acts like a bitchy 9.

Taylor Swift Effect

The Taylor Swift Effect is a phenomenon which occurred after Taylor Swift released her first album. Upon hearing this album, every girl between the ages of 11-20 who knew a few chords on an acoustic guitar declared themselves a singer-songwriter began to write billions of generic songs about breakups and jealousy, even if they had no singing ability or talent whatsoever. This phenomenon is still occurring today, and will continue for several years, until a new singer comes along that changes the trend from breakups to some new bland and generic topic.

Cindarella Effect

When a scarcity of attractive females causes the less attractive ones to suddenly receive additional attention from males, leading them to believe that they are actually attractive.

Guy 1: Dude, that girl over there is a 6 at best, but she's acting like she's the hottest thing to grace our presence.

Guy 2: Yep. It's the Cindarella effect, there aren't any real 10's on campus so the 6's get more attention. Let's just leave while we have our dignity intact.
