Comes from the film "Harry Potter And The Philosophers/Sorcerers Stone" when an Owl Delivers a Broom-shaped package and when opened Ron Exclaims "Its a Broomstick!"

corn brooming

v. keeping the path of one's friend or boss clear of obstacles. Originally used in ice curling to indicate the action of sweeping gravel, beer bottles and other debris off the action lane where the hammer rock is flung by the harrier.

That miraculous sensor situated in the anal tract that enables the operator to determine whether the chamber is loaded with gas or solid matter, before risking a fart. The Bombay barometer may give faulty readings when, for example, swamped by large quantities of beer and curry, with disastrous results.
