Literary Abortion

A piece of writing that is such a failure, it is worse than an abortion.
"So I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me?"

"What are you going to watch? I hope it's not Twilight."

"Dip me in shit and call me Susan, how could you have ever guessed?"

"Well, Twilight is number one in the box office, so its sells went up a lot. The only reason I don't want to watch it is because it was based on the book, which was a literary abortion."

Literary Depression

The overwhelming feeling of sadness and loss of interest one experiences shortly after finishing a mind-blowingly good book.
Man 1: "Hey, what's up with Joe today? He seems sad,"

Man 2: "Oh yeah, he just finished 'Inheritance'. He's got a bad case of Literary Depression,"

Literary Therapy

Purposefully reading books in order to escape from your own problems, either by reading biographies about people who have had harder lives than you, or fiction to give you hope that there is something better, somewhere.
Man, I've had such a bad day, I can't believe I only got an 80% on that last exam - I'm heading to Chapters for some literary therapy. I'm sure someone in the Gaza strip has a harder life than I do.

Literary Brunette

LB for short. A girl, often a brunette, with a literary or artistic bent of mind; but not always talented. Often withdrawn, enigmatic, and strangely seductive. While not exactly an invalid, she is physically not on very sound footing either. Death may, in fact, be imminent. This only adds to her allure.

Examples of famous LBs- Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kirsten Stewart, Arundhati Roy, Josephine March from Little Women
-Oh have you met Tom's new girlfriend, she was chain-smoking gauloises and reading from the Surrealist Manifesto.
- Damn, sounds like a real LB (literary brunette)

literary blueballs

When a novel or series is anticlimactic, or gets really good and then just stops. A technique employed by author's to hold the readers attention, only to leave them unsatisfied.
In J.K. Rowling's series "Harry Potter", the reader experiences much suspense and excitement in books 1-6, only to experience literary blueballs with her unsasitfying epilogue.
