Apoca-Dance
An apocalypse themed dance.
The basic idea is that the world is coming to an end because of our preconceived notions of gender and sexual identity. The only way to save the world is for every one to throw away their ideas of gender and participate in one epic dance. Participants are encouraged to dress as if they just walked out of the Apocalypse, to cross dress, or to experiment with their own costume ideas.
The idea originated in 2008 when the Gay-Straight Alliance of a small independent school in northwest Ohio wanted to come up with an original idea for a school event that would interest the broader student body. Originally titled "Apoca-Rave", but later changed to "Apoca-Dance" to avoid the negative connotations of drugs and sex attached to the title "Rave".

Jacob told me he is going to dress as Dr. Frank-N-Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the Apoca-Dance, but I think I'm going to stick with my original idea and come as a zombie.
