nickidewbear's definitions
Variant of "Yeshua" or "Yushke" used in Hebrew- or Yiddish-speaking and other Jewish communities. Sometimes derogatory, "Yeshu" is usually just used by Non-Messianic Jews who just don't know better.
The derogatory use of "Yeshu" is an acronym to refer specifically to the Messianic Jewish (Christian) and historical figure Yeshua in terms of "Yemach shemo uv'zichrono"-- literally, "May his name and memory be wiped out."

A Messianic Jew does not necessarily keep all 613 mitzvot in the Torah, may not hold the Talmud as part of the Jewish Bible, and may be a member of a church as opposed to a Messianic shul or synagogue. Also called "Jews for Jesus", Messianic Jews are often targeted for persecution by Antimissionaries such as the Antimissionary organization Jews for Judaism.

Get the Tikvah mug.In unofficial competition with Bratslavia to be the capital city of Slovakia (as Baltimore competes with Washington, D.C.), Košice is a major-enough city to get some notice even outside of Slovakia. Like Suwałki in Poland Russia, Košice was the capital city of its own district in Austria Hungary.
Families in the Košice Jewish community included the Yoshua Rusnak Family, whose patriarch helped lead the Zionist Conference there in 1913. Sadly, the family lost many members during the Holocaust when the Nazis invaded then-Kassa, Hungary.
