splinter cell

Another term for a splinter cell is a type of cell (aka : militia-type group) that is seperated into an, often secret, location.

Splinter Cell is the name of a kickass game from Tom Clancy (even though there is a claim that he had no relation whatsoever to its development), brought to us by Ubisoft. Sam Fisher is a splinter cell, working overseas by himself, but equipped with technology that lets his buddies in the US government pinpoint his every location and every doing.

Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile

A nuclear missile launched from a submarine.
"There're warheads that can be launched from submarines and airplanes as well. But ICBM's are supposedly the better bet because, for example, aircraft-launched ballistic missiles are said to not guarantee a hit, or something like that. Maybe the same goes for SLBM. I dunno; I'm no nuclear weapons expert."

PS : I said it like "new-clear", not "new-q-ler". LOL

gene therapy

The process of being able to transplant genes with new genes that are supposed to improve physical capability.

With the completion of the Human Genome Project, we can now detect genes that cause certain things. If we find a gene that causes illness or cancer, we can remove that and replace it with something better! That's just one of many examples of what gene therapy will do for us! ^.^
"Sounds like fun!!!.....but it's expensive. And immoral, depending on the circumstances."

Cold War

February 28th, 1946
to
December 25th, 1991

Basically, the Cold War was a race on ALL scales, between the two rivals : America and the Soviet Union. Both of these nations were the strongest in the nation. The Cold War essentially began after WWII. As mentioned before, the Cold War (which received its name because it was a war with negotiations and words, not actual combat) was a race on all scales, but one particular scale was on nuclear weapons. Other races included to become the strongest military, and even to be able to travel the stars (the Soviets put Sputnik in orbit of Earth, but the Americans were the first ones to land on the moon).
The Cold War was thee war that truly determined the fate of the free world. Perhaps the world was created to be what it is now because of the Cold War. But America won the Cold War, and the flags of freedom, and capitalism, would fly all over the world. Mother Russia is now in shambles because of not only our involvements, but also the courses they ran until they realized they were wrong.
"....nowadays I use this term to refer to an argument I have with someone online. If I met that person in real-life, I'd probably wail on him, or her. My last cold war was on February 6th, two days before my birthday; it was hellish because some bitch said lies to my sister. I won....but I was only lucky."
