EPROM

Electrically Programmable ROM.
Higher than normal voltages are required to program (save information) to this kind of ROM.
Typically a large IC with a paper sticker covering a little glass window.
The memory can be reset or cleared with ultra-violet light.
The robot worked fine until it's uncovered EPROMs were exposed to sunshine.

EEPROM

Electically Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory.
An EPROM that can be erased with a higher voltage than it is programmed with.
The robot worked fine until it's EEPROMs were erased by the power line.

Flash RAM

Non-volatile memory chip.
Information will last an estimated 100 years with (battery) power.
It is similar in operation to EEPROM in that it can be erased with a higher voltage than it is read or written with, but does not require as much time to write or voltage to reset.
You can only erase the whole Flash RAM at once.
