Someone has delusions, of grandeur, of being an artist, of being captain of the universe, etc., then whomever presents reality over and over until the delusion has been eliminated.

Once Oscar realized he wasn't an artist and his video game playing was vastly overrated in his mind, he stopped calling his mother a dream squasher and realized she was a delusion squasher, and that he had to get a real job

Larry moved to California full of ambition amd degrees but ended up in love with the sound of his own voice cracking wise, silly games, pal'd around with lazy dumbalecks until forgot he was there to build a career.

That middle aged guy frothing milk has game ego bad because he's Commander III in The Ultimate Galaxy and that's why he's smiling and looking satisfied with himself, even tho he's making $10 an hour and his 18 year old boss just yelled at him.

Being possessed by the desire to be rich, have a mansion on the beach, be famous, be envied, that drives delusional "hits" project attempts which fail one after another.

Joe lived cheap and was condemnatious of people that worked hard and had nice things, dubbing them "materiakistic," however he worked on one project after the other trying to make it rich because he had a desire monster living in his brain.

Steve's all emo over there playing damaged goods, telling some poor girl his fakefrag story, because he's been playing Crusader Kings nonstop and got fired for bad work and sleeping on the job so he wants to move into her place rent free.
