Warriors in the service of Shasarak the Wytch-King and the Shadakine Empire, they apparently descended on the eastern part of southern Magnamund from the desert. They appear human, except that they have eyes which are entirely white, with no pupils. Shadakine in Shasarak's army wear ranger-like armour and their heads are shaven, except for a pony-tail at the back. They wield fearsome scimitars, and some also have war-dogs and chariots.
The Shadakine warriors are not especially strong when confronted in combat individually, but the massive Shadakine army, with its siege machinery and spike-wheeled chariots, is a fearsome adversary.
See also Shadakine Empire.

A clearer collective term for many of the texts and trends often subsumed under the misleading label postmodernism. Poststructuralism means theories which arise after the structuralist period in continental philosophy, which draw on structuralism but do not accept all of its ideas. Poststructuralists believe in the importance of discourse for understanding social life and question the idea of the self-determining individual, but they do not believe that people's actions can be entirely reduced to an external structure. Often, they study the ways in which structures can be subverted and broken down through their own limits or through ironic reinterpretation or reconfiguration of the structure itself. See power/knowledge, writerly, differance, line of flight.
Foucault, Deleuze and Guattari, Derrida, Lyotard and Baudrillard are the best-known poststructuralists.

a large monster from the Darklands, similar to a Kraan but bigger. The largest, Imperial Zlanbeast, are ridden by the Darklords themselves. Strangely, you can play all the Lone Wolf gamebooks and never actually get to fight one.
You see a zlanbeast from a distance.
As you battle on the bridge, a zlanbeast flies by overhead.
The zlanbeast flies away as the tower collapses.
You are in combat with a zlanbeast. (INCORRECT USE)

A member of Labour Students. Sometimes, but not always, a term of abuse. Widely used by student activists.
It came about a while ago, when Labour Students was officially called National Organisation of Labour Students (NOLS) - hence "nolsie". The name has vanished but the nickname hasn't.

The nolsies have all got their tongues up Tony Blair's arse.
Don't vote for him, he's a frigging nolsie.
Me? No, I can't support your campaign, I'm a nolsie for goodness sake.
