When properly identified, can help avoid injuring the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve which runs superficially in the larynx. Named in 2005 for the chief of endocrine surgery Dr. Jennifer Rosen who first identified and preserved the space, with excellent surgical voice outcomes as a result.
