One who trips a lot, like a lot a lot. like so much that its not even funny a lot. like so freaking much that everyone knows she trips a lot before she even trips a lot. like so so so much that she makes other people trip a lot before she trips a lot and by being next to them and tripping a lot a lot and things and stuff. like so damn much that she trips on flat surfaces and trips so much that every time she trips a lot, the world trips a lot and ends up out of orbit and then she trips again a lot and the world goes back into regular orbit by tripping a lot, this happens more than you'd think. Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
