scald cat

A Western North Carolina mountain term for moonshine or corn whiskey. The liquor is strong enough to make you run like a scald cat. It's an old phrase not used much anymore, and usually will be in such a thick brogue by those that do still use it that it's barely intelligible to a speaker of standard English. It sounds like shcawcat or skull cat usually.

CAT scale

A spectrum used to rate women incrementally using detriments rather than an integer inside a domain. A 1 on the CAT scale means the girl has something in her life or demeanor that warrants a negative perception equal to that of owning 1 cat (as owning a cat is obviously an easily measurable detriment to somebody's desirability). For instance, a girl being medically obese would be about 4 cats. Nobody would want to date a girl with 4 cats.

"EW Emily can't squat 225?! That's easily a 3 on the CAT scale"
"She asked me my zodiac sign right away. 2 cats right off the bat!"
