Present perfect

When asked how you are, this response acknowledges you heard them ( are present), & for those of us who appreciate privacy it acknowledges everything is on track (perfect), without sharing specifics.

Tom: So anything new with you?
Joe: present perfect

Person 1: Did you hear my question? I asked, how you doing?
Person 2: present perfect

Person 1: So howthefuck are you? Haven’t seen you forever!

Perfect time for a presents.

- Your present perfect tense is in a week, would you like some beer and whores?
