A polyester edit is a social media video format popularised on TikTok and Instagram characterised by cheap, flashy, and repetitive character "fan edits" that can be compared to low-quality, mass-produced synthetic clothing (polyester clothing).
Just like cheap polyester fabric is synthetic, shiny, and flimsy, a "polyester edit" is for feeling artificial, tacky, and mass-produced.
