It's a..... "Charm Word"?
Is that what you call it?
Well, it's just a phrase you could occasionally hear Sabahans say when they fear that something might happen.
Usually a bad thing.
It's like a phrase to repel a jinx.
At the same time, people might "knock" on something while they say this.
And there's another variant:
-Palis-palis, jauh-jauh
"Jauh" meant "far".
Since it's pluralised, then it means either "far away" or "go away".
And idk what "palis-palis" means.

Among early Buddhists Pali was considered linguistically similar to, or even a direct continuation of, the Old Magadhi language. Many Theravada sources refer to the Pali language as "Magadhan" or the "language of Magadha." This identification first appears in the commentaries, and may have been an attempt by Buddhists to associate themselves more closely with the Mauryans. The Buddha taught in Magadha, but the four most important places in his life are all outside of it. It is likely that he taught in several closely related dialects of Middle Indo-Aryan, which had a very high degree of mutual intelligibility.

Palis is a racial slur used by Israelis to describe Palestinians. It's not just a shortened version of Palestinians........it's used with contempt, anger and outward hatred. This is often seen in racist comments by Israelis on line, especially in the Jerusalem Post comment sections.
