MDP2Pol can be oxidized to MDP2P (3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanone) by either sodium chlorite or sodium hypochlorite in hydrochloric acid and the byproduct is chlorine gas (wear a gas mask and do the reaction outside). It can also be oxidized by lead acetate. 3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanol is also called Sesamyl-2-Propanol (Se2Pol, Ses2Pol, Sm2Pol), hydroxysafrole, and Sesamylisopropanol.
I formed 3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanol by hydrating safrole with an aqueous dilute solution of phosphoric acid.
