It's an incredibly wholesome ship that plays on the best friends to lovers trope, which generally features them having a bond where they don't actually need to talk to get what the other is thinking and needing each other through each chapter in their lives.

MakoHaru has been my OTP since 2013 and I have no plans on changing that.
