Karthiayini is a Hindu name with
different variations of spelling (e.g. Katyayani, karthiyayini)
The name Karthiayini origins from Goddess Ma Katyayani. She is worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri (a festival dictated the divine feminine, goddesses manifest in
different forms of goddess shakti).
She is one of the most worshipped forms of Durga and is considered a destroyer of evil. At Vishnu’s behest, Shiva and Brahma joined him and then the Trinity (as Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma are collectively known as) emitted flames which took the form of Katyayani. A manifestation of Durga, she then took birth as the daughter of
Sage Katyayani as a result of which she came to be known as Katyayani. The Goddess is said to be the the queen of angels, goddess of
light, the
warrior against evil who holds a prominent place in Hinduism and is regarded as an inspiration to female worshippers especially as she holds the mirror to face challenges and perceive the inherent strength within.
Ma Katyayani was created to end the sins committed by demons and was born as a fighter. She sits on her
lion embracing the balancing between the divine feminine and masculine to manifest her
power within.
