A unit of measurement used in the sign making industry. It is like an acre, no one knows how big it is but it gets thrown around a lot. Maybe its the size of a tile, or the length of a rope.

This sign looks to be about 2.6 gourtans long, but we should measure to be sure.

1. People who share a love for food and a lack of etiquette.

2. Flavorful but rarely correctly seasoned.

3. People that go to a small plate restaurant and ask for a bigger plate.

4. People who stick an entire enormous roll of sushi in their mouths in one bite and prefer that to inhaling oxygen.

5. People who eat with their hands, have no qualms about plastic cutlery, and use chopsticks to fish pickles out of the jar while watching cooking shows.

An uncouth gourmands is someone who believes that anything could be stuffed between two slices of bread or rolled up into a tortilla.

People who are not afraid of getting messy and sometimes wait until they something in their mouths to talk. "Stop being an uncouth gourmand"

gouranga means golden limbs and refers to the last avartar of god who descended to earth 500 years ago.
This incarnation chaitanya mahaprabhu was golden in complection and so named golden limbs gauranga. he appeared in india and demonstrated how by chanting hare krishna mantra the soul is noticebly cleansed and perfection will be had through this process.

on the bridges the monks put this up they say it means be happy but the name itself is happiness.

Gauranga (Gouranga) was a nickname of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, a monk in India who 500 years ago (sorta) founded the Hare Krishna sect.

There were lots of "GOURANGA!" posters in Scotland in the 70's and spam still goes around now. They just want people to be happy!

A bonus word and sound that appeared in the original Grand Theft Auto, when you ran over a line of Hare Krishnas, and managed to kill them all. Apparently comes up when you kill a certain number of people in quick succession, but only every witnessed during the Hare Krishna massacre.

Dude!! I just ran over all those Hare Krishnas and got a GOURANGA!
