January 18th, 2012 - The day the web went dark.
The day that thousands of websites including Google and Wikipedia participated in a protest against bills (SOPA, PIPA) that would give the government way too much power in enforcing copyright. Many sites went totally dark, only displaying a splash page directing clients to sign a petition against the bills.
