Babelibeu (The English equivalent of the
Swedish word"Böh") is an interjection used to describe situations of surprise, especially of a negative nature. The word can be used to express feeling such as
regret, distress and shock. Babelibeu can be used both by the
person experiencing the situation, as well as bystanders.
Friend: "How did you do on the
exam last
week?"
Me: "I didn't pass..."
Friend: "Babelibeu!"
Colleague: "Have you sent the
report?"
Me: "Babelibeu, no. Alice was supposed to do that".
