Not only is Annaleise a unique name, it is attached to a person who is very much a rare creature. An incredibly unusual female. Generally quite good-looking, artistic but doesn't always follow society standards, instead makes ones that are better in her mind. A name, seemingly reserved for only the most graceful and gorgeous of girls. When imagining an Annalisa, imagine all the beguiling charm and allure granted to the goddess Aphrodite and mix it with the radiance and grandeur of every star that has ever shone and the silky, warm feeling one associates with particularly fine chocolate. Next add an ever-present smile, one that could shine amidst any crowd or be the center of attention on any stage, and a pinch of a certain finesse and poise that could rival the splendor of even the brisk dance of fall's first fallen leaf. Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
