A branch of a military that defends its country through the use and exploitation of air and space. Most decent air forces have a fleet of fighters and bombers. The most advanced air force in the world is the United States Air Force, which controls the majority of the United States nuclear arsenal. Its main three high-level bombers, the Spirit, Lancer, and B-52 Stratofortress are all capable of extremely long ranges and nuclear loads.
Many people believe USAF enlisted personnel spend most of their time doing office work of sorts while their officers are flying high. That is not the case, as many enlisted men also fly on USAF aircraft (flight engineers/technicians, crew chiefs, etc.)

The Air Force's mission is to fly, fight, and win, and have been doing so since 1947. While only 4% of the Air Force are piolots, it takes a lot more people than you'd think to get those planes off the ground.
An equal force in the DoD. Given the chance Air Force personel could and are playing an effective role on the frontline, having assumed the responsibility of convoy guards.

1. The branch of the service the Army, Navy and Marines wished they would've joined, after failing to read the fine print on their paperwork or failing to ask others which branch of the service is the best to go into.
2. The one branch of the military that has the best retention rates because they spend more on their troops, then ask for more for ammo and weapons, whereas the Army and the Marines is more about spending more on ammo and weapons and could give two shits less about their troops.
3. The "aerospace" branch that goes in and bombs the hell out of the area where the enemy is at, before the Marines go in and finish the rest, now that their job is easier.
4. The Army and the Marines rely on the Air Force to take them to combat zones.
5. The only branch with too many people in that the Air Force is paying for officers for early seperation and is offering enlisted an open door policy to early seperation....and because the Army is hurting for recruits, they've also offered a "blue to green" program where you can go directly from being Air Force to Army.

"I wished I would've joined the Air Force....they actually treat their troops with respect. The morale is higher than other branches of the service.....and their retention rates are the best too. No wonder it's so hard to keep troops in the other branches of the service."

The Chair... er, I mean AIR Force are those guys who wear BDUs like the Army, but are too good for guns. The Air Force is organized into Commands, Wings, Groups, Squadrons, and Flights (just to remind people that even if only a small fraction of the service is represented by pilots, the Air Force is all about planes). If at all possible they prefer to stay in the break room and watch TV for the better part of their work day. Many nations have Air Forces.
Get off your lazy asses and go bomb those SOB terrorists!!! Oh wait, we are grilling burgers and watching cable, then closing up early for the four day weekend. Maybe later.
