Watergargler

A sulky person. Refers to the Fifth Circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno, where the wrathful and the sullen reside. The sullen are punished by floating beneath the surface of the swampy river Styx, gargling water.
Elizabeth Bennet: “And who is Gloomy over there?”

Charlotte Lucas: “The watergargler? Yeah, that's Fitzwilliam Darcy”

Elizabeth Bennet: “I'd be like that too if my parents named me Fitzwilliam”

Watergargler

A sulky person. Refers to the Fifth Circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno, where the wrathful and the sullen reside. The sullen are punished by floating beneath the surface of the muddy, smelly river Styx, just like they floated through life melancholically.
Elizabeth: “And who is Gloomy over there?”

Charlotte: “The Watergargler? Yeah, that's Fitzwilliam Darcy”

Elizabeth: “No doubt he is like this because his parents named him Fitzwilliam”
