derived from the words "troll" and "bot". trotting is a subgenre of ragebaiting/trolling that involves someone spamming the same thing in comments sections, like a bot, to get as much attention as possible. offensive copypastas and words are especially popular in this subgenre due to their easy-to-bait nature

trotting is now common on apps like tiktok and instagram reels due to its simplicity and thanks to an ongoing "ragebaiting epidemic"

trot: "sybau!! officer rex!!!!! racial slurs!!!!! kill all minority!!!"
person 1: "what is this guy doing?"
person 2: "hes trotting, just ignore him as interacting with him will boost their ego and make him keep doing that"
